Contributing Analyst

Nathaniel Rakich is a Contributing Analyst with Inside Elections, which provides nonpartisan analysis of campaigns for Senate, House, governor and president.

Nathaniel was formerly the senior elections analyst and senior editor at FiveThirtyEight, where he wrote data-driven analyses of elections, polling, and demographics; oversaw projects like the redistricting tracker and election forecasts; and appeared regularly on the FiveThirtyEight Politics podcast. Before joining FiveThirtyEight, he wrote about politics for The New Yorker, POLITICO, Roll Call, The Atlantic, The New Republic, and the Boston Globe. He has also appeared on ABC News, CBS News, C-SPAN, NPR, and the BBC.

An avid baseball fan, Nathaniel has also written about baseball for FanGraphs, Grantland, and The Hardball Times. In past lives, he worked for the Boston Red Sox and Let’s Go Travel Guides. He is a graduate of Harvard University.
